A Huge Thanksgiving Thank You!!!

IMG_1218Wow what a response on the desks for the new school!  We want to tell you thank you times a million for the Thanksgiving blessing of the new desks for the re-opening of our school!  Your response was incredible, we ordered the desks and have had them delivered….Amen!  Our staff was so encouraged by the support for this small step in getting the school ready to re-open and it encourages all of us that the Lord will provide for all of the details to bless these children times a million.  So, as everyone in the United States was celebrating Thanksgiving this past week, please know that all of us down here in Nicaragua at Club Esperanza were having a celebration too!  Maybe we didn’t eat Turkey, but we might have celebrated with some gallo pinto and big smiles!

We do appreciate your continued prayers, specifically with the Ministry of Education.  We are doing all of this prep work to open for the 2018 school year.  As soon as we hear from them we will let you know…but our prayer is that they give us approval to re-open the school!

In the mean time the kiddos from our Early Childhood Education program have already started taking over the desks for their reading time…they fit perfectly 🙂

Thank you again and Happy Thanksgiving from Club Esperanza!

Urgent Need: Desks for the school…

Can you help us buy desks as we re-open the school?  To be authorized by the Ministry of Education here in Nicaragua we need to have 54 desks (1st and 2nd grade size) for school next year.  Our deadline for authorization is the end of November…two weeks away!

Each desk costs $22  (click here to donate by check)

We hope everyone can help.  Maybe you can donate one, maybe two, three…maybe your small group can donate a few?  It will be a fun way to celebrate Thanksgiving by helping make opening the school next year possible!

This is Sefora and Kayla…two of the students who will benefit as we re-open the school!  You can see Kayla is a little small for the desks we have.  That is why the Ministry of Education is requiring us to purchase new smaller desks.  It is important that our students feet can touch the ground! 🙂  It was not in our anticipated budget and we were not expecting to be required to have new desks for authorization.  Combined with the hard cut off date, you can see why this is urgent.

We appreciate any help you can give…praying for 54 desks!  Amen.

Thank you!

Re-Opening the School from La Chureca!

It has been almost five years now since we had to close Colegio Esperanza in La Chureca. We trusted God in that time and didn’t grasp at straws, because we knew that our service to the children and families from La Chureca was for His Glory.  And we also know how much God loves all of his creation.  We trusted that there was a good plan for everyone of our kiddos.  Over the last five years Club Esperanza has been a huge beacon of light in the community all the families from La Chureca were moved to.  We write about it often and it has been such an exciting thing to be a part of!  Watching God prove over and over how much he loves these children!

Every year over the last five years it is so difficult when our Early Childhood Education students graduate, knowing we are sending them off into someone else’s care.  And sadly into bad schools.  Every year the parents ask, “When are you going to open Colegio Esperanza again?”  They says, “We love it here, we want our children to stay here!”

BIG NEWS:  Next year we are going to Re-Open the school at Club Esperanza!

We are in the process right now of ordering everything with the Ministry of Education.  Our partnership with Love, Light and Melody has been an incredible help and drive to make this happen.  Sheyla and the entire staff at Club Esperanza or soooooo excited to open the school again!  Many of them were with us when we tore the walls of the school down five years ago.  Now we will build the school back together again!  Amen!

Please keep this in your prayers over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.  In Nicaragua this is the ending and beginning of the school year, so all these things will be happening over the Holidays this year.

So, Please keep an eye out for news on the school and ways you can join in and help.  We will need the help of individuals and organizations to see this happen.
