Wow what a response on the desks for the new school! We want to tell you thank you times a million for the Thanksgiving blessing of the new desks for the re-opening of our school! Your response was incredible, we ordered the desks and have had them delivered….Amen! Our staff was so encouraged by the support for this small step in getting the school ready to re-open and it encourages all of us that the Lord will provide for all of the details to bless these children times a million. So, as everyone in the United States was celebrating Thanksgiving this past week, please know that all of us down here in Nicaragua at Club Esperanza were having a celebration too! Maybe we didn’t eat Turkey, but we might have celebrated with some gallo pinto and big smiles!
We do appreciate your continued prayers, specifically with the Ministry of Education. We are doing all of this prep work to open for the 2018 school year. As soon as we hear from them we will let you know…but our prayer is that they give us approval to re-open the school!
In the mean time the kiddos from our Early Childhood Education program have already started taking over the desks for their reading time…they fit perfectly 🙂
Thank you again and Happy Thanksgiving from Club Esperanza!
Can you help us buy desks as we re-open the school? To be authorized by the Ministry of Education here in Nicaragua we need to have 54 desks (1st and 2nd grade size) for school next year. Our deadline for authorization is the end of November…two weeks away!
Click here to buy a new desk for Ileana’s School at Club Esperanza!
Each desk costs $22 (click here to donate by check)
We hope everyone can help. Maybe you can donate one, maybe two, three…maybe your small group can donate a few? It will be a fun way to celebrate Thanksgiving by helping make opening the school next year possible!
This is Sefora and Kayla…two of the students who will benefit as we re-open the school! You can see Kayla is a little small for the desks we have. That is why the Ministry of Education is requiring us to purchase new smaller desks. It is important that our students feet can touch the ground! 🙂 It was not in our anticipated budget and we were not expecting to be required to have new desks for authorization. Combined with the hard cut off date, you can see why this is urgent.
We appreciate any help you can give…praying for 54 desks! Amen.
It has been almost five years now since we had to close Colegio Esperanza in La Chureca. We trusted God in that time and didn’t grasp at straws, because we knew that our service to the children and families from La Chureca was for His Glory. And we also know how much God loves all of his creation. We trusted that there was a good plan for everyone of our kiddos. Over the last five years Club Esperanza has been a huge beacon of light in the community all the families from La Chureca were moved to. We write about it often and it has been such an exciting thing to be a part of! Watching God prove over and over how much he loves these children!
Every year over the last five years it is so difficult when our Early Childhood Education students graduate, knowing we are sending them off into someone else’s care. And sadly into bad schools. Every year the parents ask, “When are you going to open Colegio Esperanza again?” They says, “We love it here, we want our children to stay here!”
BIG NEWS: Next year we are going to Re-Open the school at Club Esperanza!
We are in the process right now of ordering everything with the Ministry of Education. Our partnership with Love, Light and Melody has been an incredible help and drive to make this happen. Sheyla and the entire staff at Club Esperanza or soooooo excited to open the school again! Many of them were with us when we tore the walls of the school down five years ago. Now we will build the school back together again! Amen!
Please keep this in your prayers over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. In Nicaragua this is the ending and beginning of the school year, so all these things will be happening over the Holidays this year.
So, Please keep an eye out for news on the school and ways you can join in and help. We will need the help of individuals and organizations to see this happen.
In reading Christian history and the amazing things men and women of God have done throughout the centuries, there is inevitably a beautiful story told of God’s provision at the perfect moment. I remember reading about an orphanage of hundreds of kids in England. There was no food or milk for the many mouths. At meal time, with everyone gathered to eat, the news was given “we have no food.” Lets pray and ask God for food. After amen, they heard a knock at the door. The milkman couldn’t make deliveries that day and instead of letting the milk spoil he was wondering if they could use it!
Teresa of Calcutta sat with the many sick and dying that she cared for. A visitor was there, a man of affluence. Seeing all that was being done for so many in the most dire circumstances he asked if they had funding to keep everything going. He was concerned and anxious because he had heard that there were big financial troubles. Almost uninterested she looked back at him and said, “Jesus is my banker.” And she kept on caring for the sick and dying. I knew a powerful woman of God named Miss Ruby Temple. I can almost picture that uninterested look…past the anxiety and concern….”Brother, The Lord wants me to tell you, you think too much.” The puzzle doesn’t always seem like it fits together, but our Father who is in Heaven owns the cattle on 1,000 hills. We rely on Him to provide…for everything.
Last week at Club Eseperanza we got our electricity bill. We have been in constant dispute with the power company because the bills are so high and we do all we can to keep them low! Ten minutes after the electric man brought the bill, a good friend who runs a ministry center nearby stopped by and handed me an envelope. “We wanted to help with your light bill this month.” He turned and left. Our bill was paid….IN FULL!
This was 100% a “Jesus is my banker” moment. These are the faces that Jesus is taking care of at Club Esperanza!

Last week Illuminate Church from Celebration, Florida came down to Nicaragua with a team of awesome people ready to bless all the kids at Club Cristiano La Esperanza with a new Rancho! This is going to be an outside study area with a cool temperature roof that will serve our High School tutoring program, giving them a place to gather and get their homework done. It will also be a great gathering area for student birthday parties and other fun events…all the parents are already excited about swing piñatas from beams 🙂 Check out the progress of this awesome addition to Club Esperanza!
The team was not satisfied just letting the professionals do the “high wire” work on the rancho. While we waited for the moments they needed extra hands, we got to work on other projects at the club. We painted one of our preschool rooms, served lunch, weeded and weed whacked the gardens, swept, cleaned, mopped and built a new fence around the garden! It was such a good week and Club Esperanza was so blessed by this trip!
It is so great to make this kind of progress on different projects at the Club!
Praise Jesus for a great week!!!

An update to our “Freezer Fundraiser” earlier this month. We just want say thank you to all of you who donated to help get the new freezer for Club Esperanza! We were able to get the freezer soon after the fundraiser and because of your generosity we were ALSO able to get the new industrial stove needed for the feeding program! (no more mini explosions when the gas is turned off…scary!).
Your prayers, your gifts, and your general interest in the children we serve at Club Esperanza really means alot. From the entire staff at the club, and especially the kitchen crew, we are so thankful for these new appliances!
The stove made its journey from “Food Machine” (that is the name of the store LOL!), was loaded on to the back of my truck, and then to its new home with Doña Uvaldina at Club Esperanza. Doña Uva has been cooking since the days we were in the dump of La Chureca. She worked with the old freezer and stove for over a decade. She loved getting the new appliances and passes on a huge thank you as well. She added, that we hope to get another decade out of these new ones! Amen!
We sent out this photo of our old freezer from our feeding program at Club Esperanza a couple of weeks ago. This freezer is a relic but has been an incredible warrior over the years…we have had it over a decade, since our school was in the dump! We moved it over as the dump closed in 2013 and it has kept on trucking ever since.
But now its door is broken and the motor is burning out…cold air escapes all day!
It is time for a change. We mentioned the need and got some immediate response last week. Now we have a goal. Yesterday we found a replacement that would help us to continue to serve the over 7,000 meals a month at Club Esperanza.
Our Goal is $985
Lets get this new freezer out of the display room and into Club Esperanza!!! The price above includes a five year full warranty, which is a huge necessity based on the amount of use we get out of it!
You can donate with paypal by clicking the button below or by check here.
Just make a note “Club Esperanza Freezer”
Thank you mucho mucho mucho!!!
