January Projects to start the 2019 School Year!!!

The 2019 school year is almost upon us, can you believe it?  (In Nicaragua the new school year starts in February)  During the month of January we will be getting everything ready to receive all of our students from last year and some new students as well, nearly 300 in total.  I went to Club Esperanza last week with the plan to dream about the future, ways to use the new land, getting new building built, etc…  There are so many big things to dream about!  But you know what comes first…”the little projects”…there are many things that need to be done to make the school great for our students THIS YEAR.

So this January we are going to do as much as we can.  We are starting with demolition of walls to make our third classroom big enough to handle our new group of 3rd graders (see above video).  As that work is being done we will get as many of these smaller projects done as possible.  We have all of them listed down below…

If you would like to sponsor any of the projects, just click on the link and it will take you to a PayPal link with the specific cost for that project.  (If you do not have Paypal but would like information on donating by check you can find it here)

The Grand Total for all of the projects is $10,395.

We really appreciate your support and interest in Club Esperanza…please join us as we are praying for a great 2019 School Year!!!

2018 Graduation Celebration…

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_78f5We had our graduation last week at Club Esperanza.  These little faces are the future of Nicaragua…a country that is hurting right now.  The 2018 school year was such a difficult one, but we trust in Jesus and know the future is bright!  Thank you for your prayers all year long for these little ones!  We are proud of them all!

If you would like to give towards their Christmas gifts for our Christmas Party next week please click here and donate as much as you can!

We are proud of all our little graduates.  Even more exciting is the way that God moves in their lives throughout the year.  This year 67 of our students in all of our different programs accepted Jesus in their hearts.  God’s hand also reached into the lives of their families as 60 parents decided to follow Jesus this year.  Amen to that!  I hope you are encouraged by this news as Club Esperanza doesn’t just affect the hear and now but also touches eternity.  And if you aren’t smiling already here is a quick little clip of our preschooler singing “A Dios” :-)…

#GivingTuesday – Christmas Presents for our kiddos!

Every year we hope to have enough presents for all 300 students at Club Esperanza for our end of the year Christmas Party.  If you are looking for a way to give this #GivingTuesday a $15 donation would really bless one of our precious kiddos with a Christmas present at our annual Christmas Party!  Bless one, bless two, maybe a few….or be like Oprah “Christmas gifts for everyone” LOL!

#GIVINGTUESDAY (PAYPAL)

(DONTATE BY CHECK)

In all sincerity we would love your help making this Christmas great and we know the Lord loves each one of our little children!  The Party is coming up in December and we will put some fun pictures up on the blog after all of the festivities…

Please give if you can!

God Bless from all our our Club Esperanza kiddos!!!

Sopa!!!

No, that does not mean soap LOL!  It is probably one of the funniest mistakes when learning Spanish, when you try to ask for some soap and use the word “sopa” instead…because “Sopa” actually means soup!  Just imagine the stares when you ask “I need to wash my hands, do you have any soup I can use?” Hahahaha! 🙂

At Club Esperanza we have an amazing feeding program that feeds nearly 300 people from preschool to the elderly every single day twice a day. (Thank you Orphan Network and Lacrosse the Nations for being incredible consistent partners!)

This past week I happened to be there when we were serving “Sopa”!  Look at that soup!  This is what I mean by amazing, it isn’t just rice and beans with some water that we serve every day…it is chunks of meat and huge vegetables.  A full healthy meal that will allow our kids to grow big and strong in a way that will help them to have a chance to be successful in life, Amen!

Keeping this kitchen running and clean takes a lot of effort and man power.  It also requires our constant attention and the need to make improvements.  Check out our most recent improvement….splash subway tile throughout the entire kitchen!  This is gonna keep things sanitary and SO MUCH EASIER to clean!  Praise Jesus!

There are other improvements we would like to make.  We need more storage space, so some Cabinetry will be essential.  Also the refrigerator is in the spot that is actually designed for a stove with an oven.  Out of the picture is a wash area and we need a new wash basin and shelving to make that area work perfectly for our awesome staff.  And coming this Christmas break we will need a new paint job.  Please pray for those needs and email us if you would like more info losfarrintons@gmail.com

Please keep praying for all the children who are growing up with us at Club Esperanza.  Jesus told his disciples “you give them something to eat” when they had nothing to give.  They obeyed and ended up feeding five thousand. (The Gospel of Mark Chapter 6)  We don’t feed five thousand but we see the the Lord’s miracles every day that we are able to serve a meal.  We stay obedient to His calling at Club Esperanza and the Lord always provides!  Amen.

Light in dark times…

“For you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord.  Walk as children of Light.”  -Ephesians 5:8

Nicaragua is going through very dark times right now.  There is constant bad news of fighting and violence.  Everyone is nervous, scared, filled with fear even in their own neighborhoods.  It is a very dark time.  But Jesus’ calling on our lives remains…

Club Esperanza has not closed and our incredible Nicaraguan staff has gotten there everyday and continued to be the Light in these times.  We shared this story below in our last newsletter from the earliest days of the crisis in April…

Screen Shot 2018-06-20 at 8.21.38 AM.png

In the two months since those first days of turmoil here in Nicaragua, our teachers and staff have seen with their eyes what a place of LIGHT the Lord has created Club Esperanza to be.  When school ends every day, the children do not want to go home because it is safe at the Club.  We had a prayer service with Mother’s of our students and cried out for Nicaragua.  The Holy Spirit fell and overwhelmed many of the mother’s with hope, with joy, with peace that destroys fear.  These past two weeks have been even harder for four of our teachers as deadly violence has been happening in the street right outside their homes causing crippling panic, but they come to the Club the next morning.  We have had government workers inquire as to why we are still open, what are we doing, whose side are we on.  We are on Jesus’ side, we know that in the middle of such dark times the Light of the Lord shines and helps people in need.

Please remember to pray everyday for Club Esperanza.  The 300 children and their families that we serve need your constant prayer.  And please keep praying for Nicaragua!  Pray that the Club remains a safe place of peace for anyone who comes inside the walls.  Amen.

How can you help?

The threat of a prolonged national strike is out there.   There has already been a one day strike.  If that were to happen our teachers are very worried about running out of food as most live from paycheck to paycheck and can not stockpile.  We are working with our friends the Booths and the Ohrans to create an “Emergency Provision Pack” that would last a family of six for fifteen days if a strike were to happen and the nation shut down for a longer period of time than one day.

Please check back with us in the next few days as we are trying to be thorough and get an accurate list of non perishables needed by most families, find out what is available, and price the packs.  We hope to have it done by the end of the week.

We are asking Jesus to bless this project and bless as many lives as possible.  We plan to start with our staff at Club Esperanza and go from there…please check back later!

Political Unrest…please pray for Nicaragua!

Some of you may have heard on Facebook or seen in the news that Nicaragua is in the middle of some pretty serious Political unrest.  We want to let everyone know that we are all ok and nothing has escalated to a very dangerous level for most people.  School was cancelled for Friday on a national level but we have had not other ill affects so far.  There are however protests going on in downtown Managua that have turned violent.  So, we are avoiding those areas.  The U.S. Embassy is keeping its advisories updated on Facebook.

We are staying close to home and keeping our ear on things.  Please pray for Nicaragua!  Here is our understanding of what is happening.

Univision, Washington Post, ABC News, Rueters and others have covered the story and I assume others will.  Using a google search for Nicaragua Protests should return current stories.

We are praying for everything to be resolved peacefully.  We are asking God to bring justice and truth to the situation and nation as a whole.
